TEAMS TAKE FIRST DELIVERY OF NEW PANOZ DP01 CHAMP CARS

Champ Car teams from Michigan to California descended upon Indianapolis
to take delivery of the new Panoz DP01 Champ Cars, which will serve as
the exclusive car to the series in 2007. The newly-constructed cars
arrived in Indianapolis from the Elan Motorsports facility in
Braselton, Georgia.

Ten teams too delivery of cars, including new comers Pacific Coast Motorsports.  Gelles Racing looks like their 2007 Champ Car plans have fallen apart and will only race in the Atlantic Series.Las Vegas Champ Car

 

Vegas Grand Prix now fueled by Visa

Vegas Grand Prix and First Data Independent Sales, processor of Visa credit cards, announced that the Champ Car race in downtown Las Vegas will now be called Vegas Grand Prix Fueled by Visa as part of a multi-year, multi-city partnership (Phoenix is the other city).

Tickets for Vegas Grand Prix Fueled by Visa are on sale. After higher than anticipated demand for pre-sale tickets, additional seating has been added to the venue and is now available for purchase.

PCM Testing

Pacific Coast Motorsports completed two-days of testing at Fontana. It was the third Champ Car test for drivers Alex Figge and Ryan Dalziel, using the Rocketsports Lola.

As preparations continue for their debut in the 2007 Champ Car World Series, Pacific Coast Motorsports spent the last month working with the Rocketsports team, logging over 1500 miles of testing at the Houston Motorsports Ranch and California Speedway.

Standing Starts in 2007

Champ Car StartThe series will introduce standing starts for the Champ Car World Series at venues where the starting procedure can be accommodated in a safe manner. For a standing start, the field will line up in their grid positions where the drivers will see a 15-second board once all cars are in position. A series of red lights will illuminate one-by-one until all the lights are lit, and the race will start once the red lights go out. The standing start will be used in the season-opening Vegas Grand Prix.

PAUL STODDART JOINS CHAMP CAR AS CTE RACING BECOMES MINARDI TEAM USA

Paul Stoddart purchased a controlling interest in the Indianapolis-based CTE Racing - HVM Champ Car team. Stoddart comes to the U.S.-based Champ Car World Series after five seasons as the owner of the Minardi Formula 1 team, which enjoyed a 21-year F1 run from 1985-2005. The Australian-born Stoddart will run a multi-car Champ Car team, along with current CTE Racing - HVM owner Keith Wiggins, from the team's existing headquarters on Indianapolis' fabled Gasoline Alley.

CHAMP CAR WORLD SERIES ENTERS MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH ABC/ESPN NETWORKS

The Champ Car World Series announced the formation of a new television partnership that will see the events of the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford carried on ABC/ESPN beginning in 2007.

The multi-year agreement will cover the Champ Car World Series as well as the Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda and includes Spanish-language broadcast rights as well. ABC/ESPN will begin its partnership with Champ Car and Atlantic events in 2007, and will be become the exclusive broadcast partner for both series beginning in 2008.
